DRACULA

Dracula adalah sebuah filem yang membuatkan saya mengagumi seterusnya menggemari filem- filem garapan Francis Ford Coppola iaitu pengarah yang tiga kali menerima Academy Award sejak itu pengarah filem ini menjadi idola saya kerana kerja- kerja penggambarannya yang mengkagumkan dan sukar untuk ditiru oleh pengarah- pengarah filem dunia yang lain, saya menonton filem Dracula beberapa kali semata- mata untuk meneliti dan memahami teknik yang digunakannya, saya juga pernah berimpian untuk menghasilkan filem sepertinya walaupun waktu itu filem seram dan tahyul diharamkan di Malaysia tapi saya percaya pengharaman itu tidak akan kekal lama. 

Francis Ford Coppola mempunyai keluarga yang ada kaitan dengan perfileman antara yang cukup dikenali adalah sepupunya aktor Nicholas Cage, Jason dan Robert Schwartzman. Francis Ford Coppola juga mempunyai anak perempuan yang juga berjaya memenangi anugerah academy iaitu Sofia Coppola. Di dalam filem Dracula Kerja kameranya boleh meluncur dari langit hingga ke lubang kecil di bumi dan visual boleh merakam 360 darjah dengan menarik.

Hamburger Hill

The Battle of The Hamburger Hill.. satu daripada berpuluh episod perang Vietnam. Kombat Amerika diberi tugas untuk menawan sebuah bukit yang berbentuk burger. Walaupun bukit tersebut tidak tinggi tetapi kesukaran menawan tempat yang strategik itu memakan korban yang besar antara tentera Viet Cong dan Amerika. Cubaan yang memakan masa 10 hari itu amat sengit. Kisah benar ini mengingatkan kita tentang peperanga di bukit Chandu, Singapura antara Jepun dan Askar Melayu yang di ketuai Leftenan Adnan Saidi. Walaupun Amerika mempunyai kekuatan tentera yang menakjubkan tetapi apabila berhadapan dengan semangat melawan dan cara perang gerila menyebabkan Amerika terpaksa mengikut rentak musuh yang akhirnya memberi kerugian kepada Amerika sendiri.

Hamburger Hill adalah filem lama yang saya sendiri sudah kurang mengingati jalan ceritanya tetapi waktu menonton filem itu saya harapkan ia seperti siri Dirty Dozen sahaja, rupanya ia lebih serius lagi.. menonton filem ini bolehlah disimpulkan ia adalah sebuah filem untuk menaikkan moral tentera Amerika yang sebenarnya tewas di Vietnam.. Itulah kuasa dan pengaruh filem Hollywood yang sebolehnya tidak mahu mengaku kalah, dengan filem mereka boleh menukar kekalahan kepada wira.

Mengikut WIKIPEDIA pula : Hamburger Hill is a 1987 American war film about the actual assault of the U.S. Army's 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, part of the 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division 'Screaming Eagles', on a well-fortified position, including trenchworks andbunkers, of the North Vietnamese Army on Ap Bia Mountain near the Laotian border.American military records of the battle refer to the mountain as 'Hill 937', its map designation having been derived from its being 937 meters high.

Written by James Carabatsos and directed by John Irvin, the film starred Dylan McDermott, Steven Weber, Courtney B. Vance, Don Cheadle and Michael Boatman. The novelization was written by William Pelfrey. Set in May 1969 during the Vietnam War, the movie was produced by RKO Pictures and distributed by Paramount Pictures, which had only theatrical rights to the film, whereas the video rights were owned byVestron Video, and in later years by Live Entertainment, Artisan Entertainment, andLions Gate Entertainment (which also recently acquired the UK video rights with distribution by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment). Paramount continues to own TV rights, and now also digital rights; Trifecta Entertainment & Media currently distributes the film on TV on Paramount's behalf. The copyright holder of the movie is RKO Pictures.

'Gone With The Wind'.. cinta romantik sepanjang zaman

Gone With The Wind sebuah filem yang diadaptasikan dari novel tulisan Margaret Mitchell, filem cinta romantik menyentuh hati yang dikeluarkan pada tahun 1939 ini menjadi sangat terkenal dikalangan pelajar filem, ia menjadi rujukan dan satu daripada garapan yang wajib ditonton. Gone with the wind adalah sebuah filem klasik yang baik, memahami kesetiaan dan pengorbanan jiwa raga untuk orang yang dicintai.. menonton filem ini dapat menilai dimanakah diri kita. Kita juga akan terbuai dengan keasyikan lara hidup di zaman itu.. untuk jalan cerita yang ringkas bolehlah membaca perkongsian pengkritik barat yang teruja dengan filem yang dikagumi seluruh dunia. Sebagai penggemar layar perak cari dan tontonlah filem yang menerima 10 anugerah akademi ini....

This tale of the Old South from the start of the Civil War through to the period of reconstruction focuses on the beautiful Scarlett O'Hara. Before the start of the war life at the O'Hara plantation, Tara, could only be described as genteel. As for the young Scarlett, she is without doubt the most beautiful girl in the area and is always the belle of the ball. She is very much looking forward to a barbecue at the nearby Wilkes plantation as she will get to see the man she loves, Ashley Wilkes. She is more than a little dismayed when she hears that he is to marry his cousin Melanie Hamilton and in a fit of anger, she decides to marry Melanie's brother. War is soon declared and as always seems to be the case, men march off to battle thinking that it will only last a few weeks. 

Now living in Atlanta, Scarlett sees the ravages that war brings. She also becomes re-acquainted with Rhett Butler, whom she had first met at the Wilkes barbecue. Now a widow, she still pines for the married Ashley and dreams of his return. With the war lost however, she returns to Tara and faces the hardship of keeping her family together and Tara from being sold at auction to collect the taxes. She has becomes hardened and bitter and will do anything, including marrying her sister's beau, to ensure she will never again be poor and hungry. After becoming a widow for the second time, she finally marries the dashing Rhett but they soon find themselves working at cross-purposes, their relationship seemingly doomed from the outset. Written by garykmcd

Masa untuk 'The Patriot'

Dalam keghairahan pemuda UMNO mempromosikan Patriot yang diharap dapat memberi  saingan kepada kumpulan pro Bersih 2.0, eloklah juga kita meluangkan masa menonton filem yang barangkali dapat memberi ilham dan semangat kepada mereka yang menggelarkan diri mereka sebagai pejuang tanah air daripada dijajah dan di cucuk hidung oleh pihak lain. Kalau di Indonesia diceritakan mereka dibacakan  ‘Hikayat Prang Sabi’ di madrasah – madrasah dan mushola selepas solat Insyak setiap malam yang bertujuan untuk menaikkan semangat melawan Belanda di bumi Acheh. Begitu juga sewaktu hulubalang Melaka melawan portugis mereka juga dibacakan Hikayat Amir Hamzah untuk berhadapan dengan musuh. Walaupun ‘The Patriot’ di rasakan tidak sesuai dalam menghadapi  asakan Bersih 2.0 tetapi cukuplah sekadar menaikkan semangat dan keazaman untuk mencari kebenaran dalam Negara... South Carolina- 1776.

A former hero of the French and Indian War, Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson) has renounced fighting forever to raise his family in peace. Although once a wily, efficient and ferocious soldier, he marries a fine woman who bears him seven children and, under her influence, trades his violent past for a peaceful future on his sprawling plantation.

But rebellion is brewing. Another conflict, this time with England, is inevitable.

A dedicated family man, Martin is not anxious to return to battle. Recently widowed, he has different goals now. He is the sole caretaker of his brood, and the horrors of past combat haunt him still. "If you're asking whether I'm willing to go to war with England, the answer is no. I've been to war, and I have no desire to do so again," says Martin in an emotional address to the Charleston Assembly. "I have seven children. Mv wife is dead. Who's to care for them if I go to war?"

Benjamin's eldest son, Gabriel (Heath Ledger), harbors no such doubts. The radical speeches, pamphlets and newsletters that begin in the cities and pews and traverse the colonies make an impression on the young man. War is corning, and the cause, he feels, is just. In defiance of his father, Gabriel joins the fight.

Benjamin Martin is conflicted- as stalwart as he is in his opposition to the war, he believes in the cause. Then the British, led by the cruel Colonel Tavington (Jason Isaacs), arrive at his doorstep and endanger the one thing he holds most dear- his family. With his South Carolina household threatened, Martin agrees to take up arms alongside his idealistic patriot son and lead a brave rebel Militia into battle against a relentless and overwhelming English army.

In the process, this reluctant hero discovers that the only way to protect his family is to fight for a young nation's freedom.
